Efficiency standards have been among the most cost-effective energy policies in U.S. history, enjoying bipartisan support since the Reagan administration. The DOE’s appliance standards program alone is projected to save consumers $2 trillion on utility bills through 2030 while avoiding the need for dozens of new power plants.
