Floating Photovoltaic Offshore

Offshore Energy

Floating photovoltaic (FPV) offshore involves deploying solar panels on buoyant structures anchored in marine environments, often co-located with wind farms to share grid infrastructure. They face challenges from salt corrosion, wave loading, and biofouling, but offer high capacity factors in sunny coastal regions. This technology is rapidly emerging as a complement to offshore wind.

Floating solar offshore is the silent partner to wind. It’s the same footprint, but the sun keeps working when the wind stops.
